Paul Merson, the Arsenal legend, stated that the only player that can cost Arsenal the Premier League title this season is Oleksandr Zinchenko.
If Arsenal win against West Ham United on Thursday at the Emirates, they will take the top spot in the Premier League table over Liverpool.
The Gunners shared a point with Liverpool at Anfield in their last game, and they have been able to survive with the top team in the English Premier League this season.
But they may have defeated Jurgen Klopp’s team if Zinchenko hadn’t played such a poor defense against Mohamed Salah.
Declan Rice has elevated them to a new level, and they have gained a lot of knowledge from the previous season. They’re going to win it [the Premier League title], in my opinion.
Merson told Sky Sports that Arsenal is a different team these days.
The left-back may be the source of their issues. That defense [against Liverpool] is appalling.
That’s what worries me. They need Zinchenko, in my opinion, for matches against teams in the bottom part of the standings when they can go out and play and win the game, but they don’t need him when they play the big boys.
The Gunners legend stated that although Zinchenko is a good player, he needs to improve in big games.
