Paul Scholes, the United legend, has talked about Rasmus Hojlund’s first Premier League match against Aston Villa: “He was lucky to be on the pitch.”

Hojlund scored the winning goal for Manchester United after 1026 minutes at Old Trafford.

Hojlund netted the ball to give the Red Devils victory over Aston Villa on boxing day, making it 3-2.

It took the Denmark striker 15 games to score his first goal after signing a £72 million deal to join United this summer.

Erik ten Hag is said to have intended to replace Hojlund before his game-winning goal in the 82nd minute. But after the English attacker took a knock, the former Ajax manager chose to keep him on and start Marcus Rashford in his stead.

He did have some luck scoring the goal. He’s fortunate to be on the field. However, as Michael Owen stated, I believe it’s always preferable to act instinctively and without thinking when you haven’t been scoring goals.

He doesn’t have any time at all to do the task. It takes place in an instant. After the game, United icon Scholes spoke with Premier League Productions, saying, “The only place he is thinking about is the far corner; it’s the only place he can score.”
