Barcelona wish for Ronald Koeman as Xavi Hernandez declined coming to barca.

Barcelona is close to getting Ronald Koeman hired as their next boss.

Yet according to AS, the Dutchman wasn’t President Josep Bartomeu’s first pick.

Al-Sadd’s head coach, Xavi Hernandez, was the first choice Bartomeu made in January to replace Ernesto Valverde but he decided to stay in Qatar.

Again spoke to Xavi by  Bartomeu after Barca were knocked out of the Champions League by Bayern Munich last week, for him to take over from Quique Setien.

Yet Xavi has declined to abandon Al-Sadd again and is still training with the squad for next season.

Xavi is said to have spent three days dreaming about a return to Nou Camp back in January, and was unconvinced that he would be given the resources required to rebuild the squad.

Although Bartomeu was willing to give Xavi a greater influence, the 40-year-old is still unconvinced and felt that he would have to make more fixes and turned the job down for the second time.
